Senator ConnorROMEOVILLE – State Senator John Connor (D-Crest Hill) toured the Wilco Area Career Center in Romeoville Friday afternoon as part of an effort to raise awareness for the center and the services it provides.

“As a state senator, I want to highlight why places like the Wilco Center are so important to communities,” Connor said. “The Wilco Center offers over 15 training programs to help students determine their career paths and provides many options for them to find rewarding and lucrative careers, whether they’re college-bound or not.”

Connor said Wilco’s work helping members of the community identify academic and professional goals, learn new skills, network with local business partners, earn college credits or industry-specific credentials, and search for employment opportunities is especially important as students and workers continue to recover from the economic woes brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The Wilco Center’s motto is: ‘Every student needs a skill,’” Connor said. “I am so grateful to them for the crucial work they do right here in the 43rd District teaching those important skills. Our community is made better through their dedication and hard work.”
