LOCKPORT – Parking at the Joliet Regional Airport will soon improve thanks to a $688,500 state investment, State Senator John Connor (D-Lockport) announced.
“We’re lucky to have the Joliet Regional Airport as such a fantastic resource for our community,” Connor said. “Not only do residents and tourists alike rely on it for quick and efficient travel, but our local economy depends on the business ventures that the airport helps facilitate.”
Rebuild Illinois has designated a total of $94 million for 96 airport projects in both urban and rural communities across the state. Projects will include planning, construction, reconstruction, development and improvement of public airports to increase safety and efficiency. Communities also will benefit from increased aviation access, good-paying jobs during construction and long-term opportunities for workforce expansion.
Joliet Regional Airport, which earned a 2020 General Aviation Airport of the Year award, will undergo parking lot rehabilitation as a result of the funds.
“The commitment to safety and service displayed by the staff at the Joliet Regional Airport is outstanding,” Connor said. “I am pleased to see that our airport will receive the funding it needs to continue to benefit our community for years to come.”
