Shred Event 2022CREST HILL – To provide residents with a secure option for shredding documents containing personal information, State Senator John Connor (D-Lockport) along with State Representatives Dagmara Avelar (D-Bolingbrook) and Larry Walsh, Jr. (D-Joliet) are hosting a free shred event in Crest Hill this Friday.

The event will be held at Senator Connor’s constituent services office, located at 20660 Caton Farm Rd., from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until the trucks are full on Friday, April 29. A limit of two boxes per vehicle will be accepted. Boxes or containers must be in the trunk or back seat of the vehicle for distribution for shredding.

“Shredding documents with personal information helps protect families from identity fraud. Rather than throwing away or recycling these documents, this method is a more secure way of disposing those papers,” Connor said. “I encourage families to come out and take advantage of this free event. It’s an easy way to insure your personal information is protected.”

Examples of documents with personally identifiable information that should be safely discarded include bank statements, outdated medical records, tax returns, utility bills, junk mail, credit card applications and receipts.

For more information, call Connor’s office at 815-207-4445.
